How Calebonne treats your data and what using the app means. Effective 2026-10-08. Operated by Calebonne, LLC, registered in Delaware, United States.

What we collect, and what we never do

Effective 2026-10-08 · Applies to the Calebonne app (iOS and Android), the Calebonne website (calebonne.com) and the web checkout (checkout.calebonne.com), all operated by Calebonne, LLC.

The short version

You can use Calebonne without an account. Your scan history and profile live on your device by default.
We collect only what a feature needs: the barcodes you scan, the label photos you choose to submit, the goals and restrictions you enter, an optional account email, an optional ZIP code for store lookup, and basic usage analytics keyed by a random device id.
We never sell personal data, never use precise location, never show ads and never share your data with manufacturers, retailers or advertisers.
Delete your account and its data at any time in the app at Profile → Account settings → Your data → Delete account. Get a copy of your data from Profile → Account settings → Your data → Export my data.

What we collect and why

We do not collect precise location, contacts, health records, or anything from your camera other than the barcode frames and photos you deliberately capture.

AI processing

Label extraction, the wording of explanations and Ask Calebonne answers are generated by a third-party large-language-model provider under an agreement that prohibits training on your data. We send only the label photo or product context and your question, never your name, email or history. Scores themselves are never produced by a model; they come from the published, versioned rules.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers needed to run Calebonne (hosting and database providers, our AI processing provider, Open Food Facts for barcode lookups, Apple, Google, RevenueCat and Stripe for payments, Netlify for the website) and with authorities when the law requires it. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with manufacturers, retailers or advertisers.

Your rights and controls

Delete your account and all server data attached to it in the app: Profile → Account settings → Your data → Delete account. Deletion completes within 30 days; billing records are kept as long as the law requires.
Export your data: Profile → Account settings → Your data → Export my data downloads a machine-readable copy of everything attached to your account, instantly.
Clear history and turn personalization off at any time from Profile.
Withdraw the "help improve product data" consent at any time from Profile.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK) you may also have rights to access, correct, port or restrict the processing of your data and to object to certain processing. Write to support@calebonne.com; we answer within 30 days and never discriminate for exercising a right.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit; stored data is encrypted at rest by our managed providers. Access to user data is limited to what is needed to run and support the service and is logged. Report security issues to support@calebonne.com.

Children

Calebonne is not for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email support@calebonne.com and we will delete it.

Health information

Calebonne provides general product information, not medical advice. The goals, diets and allergens you enter are used only to compute Personal Fit on your own results and are never shared or sold.

Website

calebonne.com sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking. Your day/night preference is kept in your browser's local storage. Page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads. The launch-news form is handled by Netlify Forms; every email we send has a one-tap unsubscribe link.

International transfers and changes

Our servers and providers are in the United States. We post changes to this policy here and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.

What the score is, what it is not, and how Pro works

1. What Calebonne is

Calebonne provides general information about packaged food and personal-care products: scores, explanations, ingredient descriptions, comparisons and alternatives generated from product label data and published rules.

2. General information, not advice

Calebonne is not medical, nutritional or professional advice and is not a substitute for a physician, registered dietitian, pharmacist or allergist. Nothing in the app diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any disease or condition. Product data can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Always read the packaging, especially for allergens. If you are pregnant, taking medication, managing a medical condition or feeding an infant, consult a qualified professional before relying on anything in the app.

3. How the score works

The Calebonne Score is a 0–100 rating of a product relative to realistic alternatives in its own category, computed by a fixed set of published, versioned rules from the product's label data. The same label data and score version always produce the same score. Personal Fit and Confidence are shown separately and never change the base score. Scores may change when label data or the methodology version changes. Recommendations are never paid placements. The full methodology is published at calebonne.com.

4. Your account and content

You may use Calebonne without an account. If you create one, keep your credentials secure and give us accurate information; you are responsible for activity under your account. When you submit label photos, corrections or questions, you grant Calebonne, LLC a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them to operate and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not upload content you do not have the right to share.

Friends and chats. With an account you can pick a username, add friends and send messages and product cards to them. You are responsible for what you send. No harassment, hate, spam, sexual content or impersonation. Anyone can block or report another person from a chat or a friend row; reports reach Calebonne, we review them within 24 hours, and we remove content and suspend or delete accounts that abuse the space. Verified badges are assigned by Calebonne only.

5. Calebonne Pro

Calebonne Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Basic safety information (scores, key reasons, ingredients and allergen flags) is always free. There is no free trial. Prices are shown before you buy and may change with notice before your next renewal.

Apple App Store (in-app purchase). Billed to your Apple ID under Apple's terms. Manage or cancel in your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Google Play. Billed to your Google account under Google's terms. Manage or cancel in the Play Store → Payments & subscriptions. Refund requests go to Google Play.
Web (checkout.calebonne.com). Billed by Calebonne, LLC through RevenueCat web billing with Stripe. Manage or cancel from the link in your receipt email or by emailing support@calebonne.com from your account address. Refund requests for web purchases: email support@calebonne.com with the receipt; we answer within 5 business days and refund where Pro did not work as described or where the law requires.

Whichever way you subscribe, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; you keep Pro until then and are not charged again. A subscription bought in one store can only be managed in that store.

6. Corrections and acceptable use

Every result has a "Something wrong?" control. Corrections go to a moderation queue and never overwrite data automatically. Manufacturers and retailers may report factual errors through the same process; no payment can influence a score or recommendation. Do not scrape or bulk-export product data, reverse-engineer the scoring beyond what the methodology publishes, misrepresent Calebonne results as manufacturer or medical claims, submit deliberately false corrections, or use the service to harass or defame anyone. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Calebonne name, mark, scoring methodology, evidence summaries and app belong to Calebonne, LLC or its licensors. Product names and images belong to their owners and are used for identification. Open Food Facts data is used under the Open Database License and is credited in the app.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Calebonne, LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

9. Changes and termination

We may update the service and these terms. Material changes are announced in the app and on this page before they take effect; continuing to use Calebonne after that means you accept them. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section removes consumer protections you are entitled to where you live.
